Summary: Great Reference Book
Comment: I found this book to be an excellent guide for the beginner. Truly befitting of the title. What I didn't anticipate was that this book would continue to serve as a resource and refence once I knew how dog shows worked. I have lent it to several people and "highlighted" certain passages for easy reference. This book has been recommended by me to several friends, both experienced dog fanciers and beginners. Overall, an excellent resource for everyone involved in showing regardless of experience.
And the show checklist is essential!

Summary: Great book for beginner!
Comment: This was a great book and will do well for the beginner. I have shown for a few years and found it helpful in many ways. It is very easy to read and to throughly understand. It touches on UKC (United Kennel Club NOT UNIVERSAL!!!) as well which is good for those beginners who may decided to check out UKC and AKC showing. Great read, glad to have in my collection.

Summary: Well written
Comment: A great book if you are thinking of starting out showing dogs in the AKC. She tries to remind the reader that dog showing is supposed to be fun, but depending on the level you and your dog achieve, can get stressful.
If you show in any other registry, like I do, its a good reference, too. Would have liked to see her touch more on the UKC and how much more relaxed and family orientated it is than the AKC
none the less, a great book.
