Summary: A Good Place To Start
Comment: My Uncle loaned me his copy of this book and I soon discovered that I had to have one of my own. Reader's Digest picked the best layout. There are about 38 pages to get you started on what and why vitamins and minerals are good for us. Then, 2 large sections that are remarkably helpful. The first, a list of ailments, symptoms and recommended supplements. The second section, a list of supplements and their properties. There is also a section I found most helpful on supplement interaction with other medications one may already be taking. This book is so very thorough. It has totally motivated me to go through with my new year's resolution of beginning a regime. As with anything new, the book always reminds us to check with a doctor before starting any supplements.

Summary: Enlightening and Informative
Comment: "Today, conventional medicine has fewer quarrels with alternative medicine than in the past....This openness to exploring new methods of healing is especially relevant to what I see as the most significant trend in alternative medicine: the dramatic increase in the use of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other nutritional supplements. For many people, these supplements have come to play an important role in medical self-care, either as preventative medicine or as therapy for a variety of ailments." -David Edelberg, M.D., the chief consultant for this book
