Summary: Good Beginner to Intermediate Book
Comment: This book spends the first 200 pages covering the basics of the flash tools, creating graphics, animating techniques, and sound integration. Then it dives into the good stuff: Flash interactivity (i.e. Actions/Event handlers, Movies, ActionScript). Then the book covers interactivity with other programs: Raster graphics, Vector Graphics, Quicktime, etc. Finally distributing your flash movies. I gave this four stars because I found the 150 pages of "Using Flash with Other Programs" marginally useful. To have been a really great book I would have liked to have seen more JavaScript, advanced control usage (i.e. combobox, listbox, slidercontrol), and "page-to-page" information transferral examples (all intermediate to advanced concepts). This book also makes a good overall reference and has a decent index.

Summary: An fantastic place to begin
Comment: When I came into the world of web design, I was taught HTML. That was fairly recent and it wasn't before long that I became disappointed with my eduaction. I realized knowing HTML would not get me very far in this industry. Thus I delved into the world of Flash, starting out with online tutorials. I spent days trying to sort thru them, many of them awesome, but the lack of organization killed me. Nowhere could I find a set of tutorials that explained Flash front to back.
It was then that I resorted to the Flash4 Bible, and I haven't looked back. The authors have done a fantastic job of introducing Flash and will have any newbie up to an intermediate level in no time. The first six chapters explain in minute detail all the basic features of Flash and I found the sections on how to use Flash with other programs extremely helpful, for, as we all know, very few pages come from one source.
However, now that I am at intermediate level, I will have to look elsewhere for more indepth information. The section on action scripting is lacking and I will be the first to purchase the Action Scripting Bible (if one appears). I would recommend the Flash4 Bible to anyone who is new to Flash. Jon and Rob have done a fantastic job of getting the user comfortable in a complicated program. For those of you who are looking for more indepth information about Flash, let me know when you find that action scripting book.
Thanks for helping me get started guys!

Summary: Stupid CD case
Comment: The book was good but the CD case is made terribly and takes forever to open. Also it is hard to read without taking the CD out (gives it more flexibility)I also was dissapointed when I found out that it dosen't actually have flash 4 on it and instead has a trial of it
