Summary: Exhaustive coverage of a fine OS
Comment: Okay, three things you'll need before your first Linux install:
-12-pack of Dr. Pepper
-Stressball
-Carton of cigarettes (if you don't smoke now, you will start!)

Okay, so that was my impression as I picked this book up and decided to install RedHat 7.2 on a surplus system from my college. However, I found the software to be quick and easy to set up, and the book very carefully walked me through any areas that might be a little grey. Negus writes in a careful but free manner: for us people without a Penguin tattoo, he's not speaking above our heads and he's not dumbing anything down. I have found similar books in the past that were very obtuse, almost like the authors had to prove how intelligent they were. Negus, however, walks us through the simplest parts of the install and use, while later chapters are dedicated to things like setting up different types of servers and running MySQL databases, ensuring that your investment in the Red Hat Linux 7.2 Bible will last far beyond an hour's worth of installation. Highly recommended!

Summary: Spoiled by perfection !
Comment: Unfortunately I bought the Red Hat Linux 7.2 BIBLE along with the Red Hat Linux "The Complete Reference". This book has been moderately useful in my day to day support of Linux. It leaves you with more questions than answers. If you purchase this book also buy "The Complete Referrence", it is a must. Where this book fails you TCR can answer those questions. This book is not easy to understand and leaves many holes. I would recommend it to someone who has a Very Good Knowledge of LINUX and is just looking for good reference material.

Summary: This is the one book you need!
Comment: I started with Red Hat Linux about 2 years ago, but didn't have time to learn much at all. I bought this book the other day, and I already have it working on my windows network. Its actually doing most of the jobs my other servers were doing. I just saved myself a ton of money on software license fees. I highly recommend this book for anyone new to linux as well to the experienced linux pro. 10 Stars********** I also highly recommend SAMBA Essentials for Windows Administrators. ISBN: 0-13-040942-1
