Summary: Entertaining & Excellent GMAT Preparation
Comment: I strongly disagree with some of the other reviewers' assessments of this book. First, one of the reviewers seems to have very poor grammar skills to begin with, so I distrust the claim from that reviewer that many of the answers in this book are incorrect. I admit that I found a few answers to be questionable, but when I did some further investigating, they turned out to be right. I studied from this book and this book alone before I took the GMAT, and I got an outstanding score! Every single sample problem in this book was on the GMAT test in some form or another. And, because the author provided such insightful tips & tricks, I recognized all the traps on the GMAT and managed to avoid most of them. The only reason I'm rating this book with 4 stars versus 5 stars is that I did find some grammatical errors within the text of the book itself, and I thought the editors could have done a better job at catching those errors. I would also strongly recommend a supplemental book if you are having more difficulty with either the grammar or the math problems because, once you take the practice exams, the questions & answers become too familiar & there's not much more you can learn from your errors.

Summary: Great book, for what it is
Comment: This is a great book if you only take it for what it is meant to be: a starting point. I purchased this book to begin studying for my GMAT with no intentions of it being the only book I would use. The book does an excellent job of explaining the GMAT in general and does a great job teaching to the writing portion of the test. The math review and verbal review are good places to start, but unless you are very strong already in these areas, you will likely need another book to complement this one. I think this is an excellent book and is certainly a much better read than any of the other GMAT prep books I have used.
Rating: 2
Summary: Too light in content to be useful
Comment: Quite frankly this is a difficult test. Typically the ... For Dummies books do a great job in giving information on a subject. This book treats the subject matter too light. The publisher did not catch the many errors in mathematical formulas, and if this is your only reasource, your not going to do well. The first two chapters that explain basic information about the test, do an excellent job. The book looses ground quickly at that point and in the end does a poor job in preparing you for the exam if this is your only source of studing for the exam.
