Summary: The latest in high-tech swing analysis
Comment: Mann and Griffin have brought swing analysis into the computer age. Using video of over 100 PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA tour pros, the authors constructed a composite, digitized "Pro" who exemplifies the best swing characteristics of tour players. Each chapter explains the characteristics of a given swing position or movement first. Following this, the authors present drills to aid the reader in perfecting that phase of the swing. Each chapter then concludes with an examination of the most frequent errors, keyed to the drills that will correct that error. Despite the high tech nature of the swing model, the good news is that the book is an easy read. Unlike "The Golfing Machine" or "The Search for the Perfect Swing" the language is clear. The artwork is detailed in presenting the model swing, as it should be. The training aids recommended by the authors are simple to find, inexpensive, and easy to use. I would recommend this book to any player who is serious about improving his or her swing.

Summary: For Serious Golfers, this is a must read book.
Comment: For any mid to low-handicapper longing for a more reliable golf swing, or for anyone who just wants to understand swing mechanics -- get this book. I actually bought and later returned it for a refund because it seemed almost elementary. But after traveling across the country to have my swing video analyzed by a top teaching professional, I revisted Swing Like a Pro and compared myself to the 'Model Pro'. I don't have enoungh space here to tell you how enlightening the book has been. The golf lesson was great, but reading this inconjunction with video analysis, made all the difference. Fred Griffin's and Dr. Mann's research dispelled a number of misunderstandings I've held onto for years. I am extremely glad i stumble onto this book again - and that I had the good sense to really read it this time.
A few constructive critiscisms: It doesn't spend enough time addressing the importance of alignment (how to get it right). Also, if you don't have the build of the Model Pro ( I just happen to be pretty close)... you may find it hard to imitate the 'Pro'. Craig Stadler is not represented in this book. Nor is Laura Davies. In this case, I would recommend Mike Adams' and T.J. Tomasi's book, The LAWS of the Golf Swing: Body Type Your Swing and Master Your Game.

Summary: finally!
Comment: i have been a serious student of the game for 26 years. i have read most every classic golf instruction book and taken many lessons over the years. this is the most helpful golf book i have ever read. it has put all the pieces together in a way that finally makes perfect sense. it is a pleasure to feel such confidence and conviction as i practice what i have learned. i have asked difficult questions of top players and teachers over the years and until now could not get satifactory answers. the value of this book lies in the author's ability to help a reader understand why some swing mechanics are truly important, and (just as important) why many other classic instruction points are unimportant or dead wrong. the book is based on measurable scientific fact and conclusion, not opinion. i think this book will become the classic golf instruction book of our time. enjoy!
