Summary: an excellent book, entertaining and informative
Comment: Reed Scowen (the author of this excellent book) presents a reasonable plan. I'm a Canadian citizen, I intend to remain one, and I accept his plan to let Quebec go. I now believe after having read this great work, that both Canada and Quebec will be better off after we've gone our separate ways. I suspected this already before, but now I'm sure. I also hope British Columbia joins the USA union.
Rating: 3
Summary: A book sure to appeal and appease hardline separatists.
Comment: Reed Scowen may mean well with his book, his solution is sure to put smiles on the faces of Quebec's hardline separatists while leaving other Canadians empty handed. There is no magic bullet between these pages that fairly puts an end to the unity debate. A yes vote in a referendum would offer a more viable solution. Throw in everything that separatists have been demanding and top it off with Canada being the "bad guy" and the solution you end up with plays right into the hands of Quebec's separatist premier. Mr. Bouchard, known for his martyr complex would surely play Scowen's solution over the top to win the world's sympathy and the scorning of Canada. Although well written, Scowen's book doesn't offer a viable solution to the unity issue that has continued to plague Canadians for the majority of this century.
