Summary: Bizarre and psychedelic as far as alternative theories go...
Comment: I haven't read this particular book, however I have read an online paper by the author exploring roughly the same idea.

Basically, the author's theory is that ancient and medieval history as we know it is, shall we say, vastly inaccurate. He uses texts more or less contemporary to the time periods they discuss (such as Galfridus Monemutensis' "Historia Brittonum", the Bible, and others), but dissects and analyzes them in a much different way than mainstream historians and scientists have. To boot, his conclusions completely rearrange history. Through this process, he comes to the following conclusions:

Jesus was born around the 10th century CE; The Trojan war took place in medieval times; 400 years of British history really took place in the Byzantine Empire and not the British isles; Sodom and Gomorrah were medieval cities in Italy; The Picts came from Egypt; et cetera.

Essentially, Fomenko pushes ancient history WAY ahead on the timeline. His methods and evidence is at times confusing and circumstantial, but some of things he says deserve more looking into. This is the kind of theory that the mainstream will immediately and vitriolically write off and never look at again, but it certainly makes one think. It especially makes one think when mainstream dogmatic scientists react so unprofessionally and violently to new theories. If such a theory were truly ridiculous, should they not be able to, with their own findings and evidence, disprove it? But this rarely, indeed, almost never happens. It is almost always with emotion, not intellect, that alternate theories are destroyed. And that doesn't make sense.

But, coming out of my tangent, I will conclude thusly: Fomenko's theories and research makes you feel like you're in the twilight zone. Going by what we all learned in school, he absolutely SHOULD NOT be right... but there's something there, something odd and lingering... that makes one think he very well could be.

This deserves serious, unbiased, non-dogmatic review. Especially more research into the original Hebrew Old Testament and the linguistic aspects of Fomenko's theories.

I also wonder how Fomenko deals with the archaeological and geological evidence that supports mainstream history.

But, in any case, do not read at night.
