Summary: Crime without Punishment
Comment: Irene Pence is a fine True Crime investigator and writer. She's so good at what she does that the reader forgets the writer's there - none of the over-written stuff that pulls the reader out of the story to focus on the raconteur. Ms. Pence artfully lets the Tale do the Talking and her words don't get in the way. And what a tale she tells. John Battaglia Jr's unpunished stalking and physical abuses of his ex-wives is a ringing indictment of a judicial system that winks at the Good Ole Boy Defendant and says: Now don't do that again, OK? A system that didn't quite get around to revoking John's slap-on-the-wrist probation until after he had murdered his two young daughters, with whom he had court-ordered unsupervised visitation, at point-blank range, with their momma on the phone to them as they screamed: "No, Daddy, Don't!"
Finally, and way late, the system did something. Reviewed by Tundra Vision

Summary: A good author!
Comment: I've read all of Irene Pence's books, but this story is so tragic it haunts me. It makes you wonder how things might have turned out if the laws applied to everyone. It appears that Texas is a good-old-boy state where "domestic abuse" is fine as long as the man is doing the abusing.
Is there anything we can do to get law enforcement to do its job?
Ms. Pence often uses "trustee" instead of "trusty" which breaks the flow of the story for me, but she is a very good storyteller.

Summary: True Crime Fan
Comment: With a degree in Criminal Justice, I am automatically hooked on True Crime stories. NO, DADDY, DON'T was one of the very best. It immediately grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. Irene Pence's writing style flows and she describes the characters so well that you feel like you know them. With my work inside prisons, I know first hand that "Trustee" is the correct word that Ms. Pence uses as it is emblazoned on each trustee's orange jump suit. I look forward to more books from this author.
