Comment: After reading Travels With A Whip, I decided to order several other of Scott's erotic novels. When Whipping Boy and Whip Hand showed up together on my doorstep, I realized that one was a continuation of the other and read them accordingly. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the saga of Richard, Helena, Margaret, and Ingrid had started here in House Rules (which I read after the other 2). Be that as it may, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope that if you decide to check out Scott's BD/SM series that you start here. Now kneel you little worm.

Comment: The September 19, 2001 reviewer has it exactly right. There is not enough dramatic tension in this book, which I also found to be the case with Scott's Travels with a Whip. How can one write about erotic and unusual sexual practices without them being sexy, or not sexy enough at least? Read these works and see... Though I agree with another reviewer as well, the chastity belt aspect was nicely done.

Comment: I was unable to finish this book. The problem was that it (to me anyway) lacked sufficient tension. The protagonist seemed to be floating along a scenic river that was going at a comfortable pace toward a destination of his own choosing. Everything fell into place to provide him with the exact experience he sought from the beginning. To me, the protagonist should have some surprises & difficulties along the way, challenges to overcome, life changing decisions to make. The (protagonist) character should undergo some metamorphisis based upon discoveries and the effect of new experiences and reactions to previously unknown sensations. The crossdressing came entirely too easy for him. It should have been devistating to go out in public like that at least for the first time, whether or not he came to like it later. Maybe if I'd finished it, these things would have come about. I may yet pick it up again and give it another chance.
