Summary: Incredible
Comment: I bought this in great anticipation after reading suicide blonde. In her post-modern, existentialist mode, Darcey Steinke brings you into a surreal, torturous world and actually makes you feel what its like to be her protagonist. The use of language is extraordinary. If you like romance novels, you won't like Jesus Saves. If you want to read true literature that can be analyzed and discussed for weeks on end, buy this book.

Summary: Meandering and extremely tedious
Comment: I admit it: I judged this book by its cover. I was intrigued by the title, the flap copy, and the cover design, and that's why I picked it up; it sounded like a subversive, interesting, anti-religious tome. Unfortunately, while a recurring theme of the book is torture, the only truly torturous task concerning this book is attempting to read it from start to finish--an arduous process that I'm surprised I managed. Steinke's excruciating attention to irrelevant detail and the two-dimensionality of her characters leave a whole lot to be desired in this ultimately boring novel. So much potential..it's really a shame. Not recommended.

Comment: This book is lacking in plot and coherency. It tries to simply, i think, be edgy and shocking. I found it dull and not really worth my time. I was really disappointed.
