Summary: Perfect Ending
Comment: Take a trip to the Oklahoma frontier and enjoy learning why EMMA'S FOLLY is no mistake. Emma Cummins escapes the comforts of plantation life and the man her father has chosen for her to marry to find happiness in a rustic cabin devoid of servants and conveniences and full of responsibility and love. Being stubborn with a capital "S", Emma won't easily accept a future with the new man in her life, the handsome Jed Thomas, no matter how much she loves him. This engaging story has a perfect ending that leaves a sweet aftertaste and an appetite for more of Carolyn Brown's books.

Summary: A wonderful, romantic voice
Comment: One of my favorite Hallmark Presents was "Sarah Plain and Tall." Ms. Brown gives the same feel in this delightful novel. The romance grows slowly between this mismatched couple and the children are beautifully drawn.

This was the first book I have read by Ms. Brown--and I am sorry I didn't find her earlier. She is a much loved writer and a very talented woman.

Summary: Emma's Folly is not Carolyn's Folly
Comment: "Emma's Folly" is by no means Carolyn Brown's folly. It is the launch of Avalon Books historical romance line and they couldn't have picked a better series to premiere. Emma flees to find freedom and independence in the new, developing world of Oklahoma Territory. She may feel she's lost her freedom when that desperate wedding ceremony takes place, but little does she know she's found new freedom in love. Emma shows women they can be independent, but also dependent on special people in their lives. Jed and his crew of kids set up a place in Emma's heart and the readers' heart, too. Be sure to read "Violet's Wish," the continuing story of Dodsworth and Emma's friend, Violet. Brown creates a small town full of big-hearted people who will stay a part of your life.
