Summary: Good Explanation of An Oral Deaf Adult
Comment: This book is a great book for older children to learn about deafness. Just be aware that the deaf man in this book does not use sign language at all. He is strictly oral (uses speech and lipreading). If you're looking for a book that shows you everything (lipreading, oralism, sign language, Culture), this is NOT the book for you. If you are an oralist, you will find this book to be a good read. Again, it is for the older child or pre-teen and does not read as a picture or story book. For a children's book it is quite lengthy, but well worth the time if you are looking for a deaf experience in oralism. I am Deaf, but I am not supportive of a strictly oral upbringing. I did, however, feel that this book offered potential. That's just this deafie's opinion. :o)
