Summary: A Model for Interfaith Understanding and Respect
Comment: Susan Walker brings together a transcript of lectures by the likes of Tessa Bielecki, Mother Abbess of the Spiritual Life Institute, Jospeh Goldstein of the Insight Meditation society, the Dalai Lama, and Judith Lief of the Naropa Institute of Canada in a wide-ranging spiritual dialogue. The participants discuss the contemplative traditions of mindfulness, sunyata/nada, and clarity and emptiness in a way which underscores the transformative potential in interfaith dialogue of all kinds. Those seeking a path of mutual respect and understanding which leads beyond a destructive exclusivism will do well to read this book.

Summary: Excellent contemplative spirituality resource!!!
Comment: Walker integrates the Christian and Buddhist perspectives on the contemplative journey extremely well. I loved her quote, "Prayer itself is God's life within us, God's great dance." Walker's presentation is historically informative and she articulates the best of both contemplative traditions in a way that sums up the basic aim of Benedictine monasticism...It is definitely worth the read.
