Summary: A Wonderful Eco-Tale!
Comment: A lovely tale about Toby the whale as he seeks his pod and takes the reader on an undersea adventure that is marvelously imagined and fun to read. It is also guaranteed to stimulate an ecological interest in most readers and a concern for the survial of endangered whales. If you love this kind of book like I do, I would also recommend the recently published eco-novel, ACCUSED BY FACET-EYES (author C.B. Don), since it takes the reader into another world within our own...that of the fantastic Magi honeybee beings and the plight of the endangered honeybee pollinators. Both books are thought-provoking and a journey into a realm not usually talked about or visualized by us humans!

Summary: Toby's adventures alone in the open sea
Comment: Toby lives in a pod with his fellow whales but he sings in his sleep! That could endanger the whole pod by waking up the whaling ships, and that could mean big problems. He does come along on the migration route, but has to stay 100 yards away at all times. But soon he's lost! And worst of all, unable to find his pod.

Summary: one of my favorites from childhood
Comment: I read this book quite a few years ago during grade school, and though I have a difficult time recalling anything else I read from that time period, this one stands out in my mind. I stayed up all night to finish and I remember crying during some of the more poignant scenes. It has a great ecological message and is written beautifully.
