Summary: This is a great informational book!
Comment: As I am researching the Ojibwa peoples currently, I find myself pulling this book out 3-4 times a day, and it has not failed me yet. The vocabulary covered in this book is simply enormous, and if you're tired of looking at online dictionaries, pick up this book--well worth the cover price.
My only complaint is that Ojibwe, being a 'verb-based' language rather than a noun-based like our own, is very hard to piece together in sentances. There is a tiny chapter at the beginning of this trying to explain it, but it doesn't do a very good job. Thus it's frustrating to look up one word and find 4 different spellings for it.

Summary: Concise Dictionary of Minnesota Ojibwe
Comment: With its seven thousand entries, the Concise DMO should contain ample resource to remain a useful reference beyond the time a person would spend learning the basics of Ojibwemowin, the Chippewa language. An asset which it has provided me is its spelling which has a large enough recognition that I can muddle through a project with the dictionary to e-mail or to post an Ojibwe message and be understood even though I struggle with the phrases. The acceptance of the orthography which the DMO includes has a sufficient enough standing that one can use the salutatory words it provides within a search engine to find potential correspondents or forums to practice some informal writing in Ojibwe. For what the dictionary lacks in examples of usage, this book makes up for by its affordable price. Without breaking the bank, a student can purchase the DMO to accompany other grammatical references. The dog-eared appearance of my copy gives evidence of how useful it is to me. Little dust collects on this book in my shelves.
