Comment: An excellent book revealing the importance of love and affirmation that everyone needs to be whole and happy. The book describes the discovery and symptoms of Deprivation Neurosis -- a syndrome which results from a lack of love and affirmation in someone's life. Feelings of loneliness, insecurity, insignificance, and worthlessness manifest themselves. The individual generally feels unwanted, unloved, inferior, depressed, afraid of the world, oversensitive, unlovable, and unable to make friends. All these result in an emotional prison which is only able to be opened from the outside -- by another person giving unselfishly of him or herself -- true, unconditional, authentic love. To be healed, the individual must feel worthwhile to another person, loved, and understood. Truly an important book for our time -- a time when so many are deprived of the emotional affirmation and love that they need.
