Summary: Another Great Story for Cassie!
Comment: I am hooked on these Historical romances stories and I believe that Cassie did a great job in this story with the plot and characters as usual. I am not a EXPERT of history and don't read her books to "pick" at the historical facts. I read to get involved with the plot and the characters. This I believe that she does a fine job with in this story. This is way I find her books so enjoyable. Good job Cassie!

Summary: Ms Edwards doesn't even give a "nod" to historical accuracy
Comment: Ms. Edwards may have written a "romance" but there is nothing historical about it. I am told that she actually visited the site...Grand Portage Fur Post where the book is set. I can only conclude from this, that the author is both deaf and blind. There is no written record of a white woman being here in the late 1700's...definitely not one from a Virginia plantation. The caplock guns the men are carrying were not invented until a century later, and Ms. Edwards has the heroine shedding garments that were not worn until at least 50 years later. The tipoff should have been on the first page, where the raspberries are ripe in northern MN in early May....the leaves are barely on the branches here that time of year. It just went downhill from there. Apparently, Ms. Edwards was so busy fantasizing the rather repetitive love scenes, that she had no time for a little basic research into historical fact. The plot is tiresome also, with the heroine, Mariana, being abducted by one evil party or another on her way to tryst with her lover. If a book could rate negative stars on this review, I would give it a minus 5 stars.
