Summary: Fails a difficult task
Comment: Writing about the Glorious Appearing of Christ and the cataclysmic events which lead up to it is truly a daunting task. Words could not begin to describe the devastation of the earth during the warfare of the End Times, nor could they do justice to the Glory of Christ. Among the authors' goals seems to be to translate the Revelation story into words that modern-day readers can understand and to encourage people to read their Bibles. In these two things they seem to have succeeded, judging by the number of books in the series that have been sold. As for this particular book, it is not one of their best. The authors try to include as much Biblical information as possible and somehow lose the human element. Some of the events seem too simplistic and the characters do a lot of joking around about the single most important event in history. The book seems shallow and anti-climactic after a build-up of the 11 previous books. However, I applaud the efforts of the authors and hope that this series will encourage future works of fiction based on Scripture.

Summary: disappointing
Comment: I have read some of the other "negative" reviews and have found them to be frustrating. They seem to be railing at the theology - the reviewers don't believe the theological premise for the series, and that is what they are rating. That doesn't seem to be a fair rating of the book itself as a book. I am personally okay with the premise - I guess we will all find out whose interpretation is correct when the time comes. I just plain found this book to be a disappointment. I felt like the actual story could have been told in 1/3 of the pages - most of it was recitation of scripture or of scripture related statements. The plot was extremely thin, and I was truly disappointed to have the series end this way - maybe they should have covered the real plot points of this book in the previous one and let it end there.

Summary: Totally wrong eschatology
Comment: Most folks choose to criticize the writing of the book or his interpretation of Christian scriptures. Speaking as a major planet-crushing deity, I feel I've got some insight into how your world is going to end.
When the stars are right, I will rise from my grave in Sunken R'lyeh and annihilate the human creatures that crawl the earth and then do what I gotta do. After I wipe out humanity, what I do is pretty much my business and even if you knew, it wouldn't help you any.
I know, I know, a lot of you are gonna holler on that one, protesting your faith is real, etc. Whatever gets you through the night, pal. I'm just telling you how it is. I got no reason to lie. And it's not like I feel that you have the right to know or anything. Really, I'm just messing with you before I destroy you or your descendants. No telling when the stars will be right, but when they are, I'mma 187 da planet. Word.
