Comment: I loved this book immensely, I have read only one of Henke's other books, but this one was amazing. Orlena Valdez's mother dies when she is young leaving her to be passed from female relative to female relative. Her brother has intentions to use her in gaining stature within the kingdom, but she has other plans and runs away with her step father and younger brother, Santiago. Night wind, otherwise chistened as Joaquin, has lived a different life. Sold as a young child into bondage by his father, he has sworn revenge, and retribution for his tribe and his mother. His hatred leads him to the life of an outlaw, and Orlena; a woman who entices his passions, but must be kept at a safe distance for she is his key to his revenge. Or is she?> Despite his ever present rage he takes Orlena as wife when she is with child, but he still doesn't admit the love in his heart. Orlena's stepfather is constantly a barrier in their relationship, and Orlena doesn't find out why until to late. Conal Quinn causes their seperation, and ultimatley the death of their child. But love perserves in spite of human protests and they find one another again. In the end their love conquers all and reunites them, but not without exacting a few trials along the way. All in all, I find this to be one of the most exciting and stimulating books I've read in a while.
