Summary: Well, it makes a great support for my sagging bookcase...
Comment: If you enjoy inpenetrable drivel by self-aggrandizing and pretentious academics, then this book is for you. I gave up on it well into the first chapter, and then jumped around to see if ANYTHING was worth reading. It wasn't. I think the editors deserve credit for allowing authors to present their own opinions, but the role of an editor is also to SHAPE a publication so that it has some coherence and meaning. Comparative Education appears to be nothing more than the editors getting educators to write papers on topics relevant to comparative education, and then stacking them up in no particular order and shippping the manuscript off to the publisher. If any editing was done, I'd truly be surprised. I gave up on this book and my sagging, in-need-of-replacement bookcase is kept level because Comparative Education propped up the sagging edge. At least it served some purpose!
