Summary: historical hijinx
Comment: This book is lots of fun; it's full of howling puns and silly word play. At the same time, it's a real history of Rome (up to the death of Caesar), with all the facts as straight as they're ever going to be. I'm not sure I'd assign it to students with no knowledge of Roman history, but as a supplement to Livy or Cicero, it would be great.
