Summary: Can't Get 6 Semester Hours of College Credit Any Cheaper!
Comment: This is a must have review book if you are planning to take the CLEP test. I got my book last Wednesday, studied Wednesday night, all day Thursday and about an hour on Friday. I took the test today (Monday) and got a 61, which is equivalent to a "B". I took the 3 tests in the book several times and focused on my weakest area, poetry. The actual test seemed much easier than the ones in the book, which means I was very well prepared. Also, you have 1:30 minutes to answer 80 questions on the computer when you take the test, as opposed to the same amount of time to answer 90 in the book.
I figured it out -- these much needed 6 hours cost me about [$$$] a piece, including the cost of the book, shipping and handling and the CLEP test fee. Go for it, you can't get 6 semester hours of college credit any cheaper!

Summary: Buy this book with some reservations
Comment: I studied for the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Lit test using this study guide exclusively. I passed with flying colors. But I am not sure I learned anything "New" with this book. Like the customer-reviewer before I found many of the answers from the practice tests debateable. Nonetheless I was able to focus on my particular weaknesses, namely to read the passages from the test more closely, to slow down while reading. So I would suggest to do alternate reading for terms and definitions relating to the test, but use this book for the practice tests, WHICH ARE VERY HELPFUL because really the CLEP test is all about reading, analyzing, and interpreting a la minute. And the only way you are going to get any better at that is to practice practice practice.

Summary: Read all the reviews for advice, take the test.
Comment: I read all the reviews and decided to use this book and the second half of Princeton Review's Cracking the SAT II for writing and literature (which was recommended in another review) for preparation. I have no background in this material and used nothing else to prepare. I didn't even make it through the last practice exam in the Princeton book. I also took the advice of only going through the practice questions in this book and only read the first few pages of the review portion. I did go through all of the review portion in the Princeton book.
From the practice tests, and in the real test, I definitely did not get the sense that "I got it" as another reviewer writes. When I clicked to finish the exam, I really thought it could be pass or fail. I passed in the low 70's where the max score is 80. The testing person said the way I felt was the way most do regarding the test, including one that had passed it that morning. So, this is what worked for me. I studied for a few days and basically agree with everyone else, just go for it!
