Summary: Provides useful information, but...
Comment: This book is useful in the sense that it gives you the basic information that you will need to buy an aftermarket A/C system and install it in your classic or kit car. The other books I've seen or own only deal with preinstalled systems and not installing a new system from scratch. The major downside to the book is that the authors are both from Vintage Air (an aftermarket A/C company) and every page is filled with advertising telling you that such and such a component can be purchased through Vintage Air. It gets old after a while and you begin to wonder if you are being brain washed into buying a Vintage Air system. The other downside is that the last few chapters repeat earlier chapters. The book is short so this doesn't waste too much time to read. In the end, the A/C system for my truck will cost around $1,000 and the book cost (the price). The information I gained from the book probably saved me a few hundred dollars in mistakes so it was worth it. Had there not been so much selling of Vintage Air products, I would have rated the book as 4 stars.

As a final comment, the book is due for an update. It was authored just as CFC-12 was being removed from service and was replaced by HFC-134a. HFC-134a was covered well, but the coverage could be expanded now that more is known about these ssytems.
