Summary: Adoption Was Not a Life-Affirming Choice for Me
Comment: I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but as an adoption survivor, I did not feel that this book spoke to me. Why is it that anti-abortionists, even well-intentioned ones like Ms.Matthews-Green, never listen to the pain of women who regard adoption as a traumatic or forced choice that we regret? I have also read Ms.Matthew-Green's argument against solo parenting as a choice elsewhere, and she makes similarly weak arguments against sex education in the same context. Unfortunately, women with crisis pregnancies need practical assistance from both governmental and community services. I do not buy into conservatively correct dogma that argues otherwise, no matter what choice that woman might make. I would have to end this by acknowledging that although Ms Matthews-Green cares for women who regret abortions, she does not speak to those of us who made other reproductive choices that were wrong for us. And I'm afraid that apart from some Feminists For Life members who do argue that adoption is a source of pain for some women, her movement doesn't either
