Summary: Blue Ribbons For Juliet
Comment: A marvelous story for children and grown-ups alike. Anybody who has been thrown into a strange new situation will sympathize with both heros-Tristan the boy and Juliet, the English Toy Spaniel puppy. Tristan has arrived in LA to stay with his uncle after his parents' divorce. Juliet is in her first dog show, and if she loses Tristan's uncle, Grady, may lose his kennel.
Both face their daunting challenges head on, teaching each other valuable lessons along the way. The dialogue between Tristan and the dog is perfect and will delight children. It's a good story with which to tuck a kid into bed, with great lessons about being different, self reliance, honor and integrity.
I would recommend this story for parents of discouraged children or children caught in difficult transitions, although all children will enjoy this story of Tristan and spunky Juliet. There are things they need to know to become one of life's winners, and this book has some of the those steppingstones. I anxiously await more children's prose from Marilyn Lowery.

Summary: What a marvelous book!
Comment: Absolutely wonderful for young people in the throes of major, and frightening, life changes. Indeed, for Tristan, the hero of the story, meeting Juliet was life changing.
The plot presents many challenges for, both, the boy who must find a life far from all that is familiar, and the English Toy Spaniel who carries the survival of Whispering Pines Kennel on her young shoulders.
The cast of characters, both human and canine, heroes and villains, is always engaging. From Grey Thunder, a magical Irish Wolfhound, both Tristan and Juliet learn the secret of thinking winning thoughts and other valuable lessons. Highly reccommended for any young person who has ever loved a dog.
