Summary: Garbarino and Sasso offer an excellent summary text
Comment: Merwyn S. Garbarino and Robert F. Sasso offer an excellent summary text concerning a broad range of culture areas. The approach taken by Garbarino and Sasso is excellent for use as a text or reference source for individuals interested in Native cultures. They take a somewhat outdated approach by using culture areas. However, given the breadth of matterial in the book it would be impossible to avoid some generalizations. The approaches to technology and thought systems in a comparative setting are excellent. I have used this text in my Native American Cultures course. And, for a change, my students said they were not going to try to sell the book back at the the end of the semester.
