Summary: Interesting book
Comment: Dr. Cress Welsing's controversial theories are interesting to say the least. I can understand where she is coming from, and I can sympathize with her train of thought. Unfortunately, most of her reasoning is based on tenuous, unscientific rationalizations, devoid of any empirical proof. Yes, racism exists, yes, the Anglos have colonized the world. So what? Why are so many other black people worldwide successful in business, science and almost every other field if its such a racist country and world? The Forbes 500 now has 2 black billionaires lest we forget (and thank God they are both degree-wielding and intelligent folk, not the brain-dead ragamuffin atheletes and entertainment artists that half of Black America tends to look up to as role models). Let's stop crying "victim" all day, get our butts off our couches and go to college, study, learn, work hard to catch up, instead of waiting for reparations and hand outs from some nebulous white knight while we cry our throats dry blaming him for our misfortunes, whether real or perceived. Life is not fair, we need to play the hands we are all dealt with to the fullest.

Summary: Stop passing judgement, "A Reader" from Planet Earth
Comment: I am only writing this commentary because I was truly sickend by the comments that "A Reader" made towards the book, "The Isis Papers". Though you have every right to your opinion about not liking the material of the book, I found it disheartening that you would put down a whole race of people. Being an African-American woman, I have experienced racism in all forms, from being called a "nigger" to being followed throughout stores to being judged as a purse snatcher as I walk by white woman. In fact, there was even a time when I was just admitted to a hospital and my roommates son came to visit her and with one look at me, he said to his mother, "Oh oh, you better put up your valuables before something ends up missing!" These experiences can take a toll on one's psyche because you find out that you are not looked as an individual but in fact as some "psychopath" with "low level intellect" who has a "profoundly sick and hideously flawed 'culture'". Your opinion about Black Americans proofs to me and others that this country has a long way to go with race relations.

Summary: well...
Comment: I find some of Welsing's theories a combination of half-baked truths, guess-work, and dangerous concoctions. But at the same time, I must say it was a fun read. Some of the stuff is true, but I wouldn't base racism (white supremacy) on the fact that whites have little or no melanin, as Welsing claims. I think racism is a product of thousands of years of culture and revolutions. I could spend the whole day talking. Oh well...everyone has an opinion.
