Summary: A Great Coffee Table Conversation Starter
Comment: This is a book you can do without. On the other hand, it is such a curiosity that it is appealing. I toured a WWII destroyer and the sanitary facilities for the enlisted men on that ship were not much better than the ones described in this horror filled epoch of the great sailing era. There is more here than anyone should want or need to know. If you fancy yourself the next Patrick O'Brian and plan to write an accurate historical novel about the great ships then this is definitely the book for you. The most unmentionable details that will beef up your prose are here for the taking. Reach in that vulgar tube and grab a gob of historical realism.
