Summary: A Rare Historical Delight!
Comment: A very important book -- and a book I could not put down, for Liddy's writing style is positively infectious!
Liddy has accomplished two very important things: one, he has articulated in an irresistible manner what so many people complain about -- the out-of-control hemorrhaging of freedom in this country, to the point where it is barely recognizable as the country we once knew and loved. Liddy knows whereof he speaks, and it is touching to read about another, better America. Quite simply (if you weren't born then you can read about it for yourself), we once had vast individual freedom in this country -- an unimaginable, almost alien concept today. (Read and weep!)
But more important, in his electrifying appendix Liddy has finally exposed the much-suppressed dirty truth of Watergate. Every American who is in any way interested in politics or history must see the evidence for himself, for it took years of meticulous investigation (and litigation) to bring it to light, and it demonstrates that conventional Watergate history -- OUR history -- is based upon fraud. As Watergate remains what one noted analyst called the "master narrative of modern American politics," this book will be controversial, and the Washington spin machine people will doubtless do their damnedest to suppress it.
All the more reason you should read it for yourself! This book will amaze you!

Summary: Making Today The Good Old Days
Comment: This book is about "the good 'ol days". Probably everyone pines for the good old days at some time or other in their lives. Whether you agree or not with what he sees as the good old days, G. Gordon Liddy does a nice job of presenting his thoughts on them. I enjoyed this book. However, I would rather my students, and anyone reading this review, get hold of a book I have recently read that is not agenda-driven, is educational, and is the thread that connects history and the good old days with the here and now, today. I think if you read and internalize that book, "West Point: Character Leadership Education, A Book Developed From The Readings And Writings Of Thomas Jefferson" by Norman Thomas Remick, you will learn how to make today the good old days, and contribute to our nation's keeping today the good old days.

Summary: Liberal elites will whine
Comment: Anything that makes America's (no, make that the world's) liberal elites whine puts a wide smile on my face. This book has caused me sore facial muscles from the dozens of times I cracked wide smiles and laughed aloud at the unvarnished presentation of truth on many issues--notably, women in combat roles and the mixing (literally) of men and women on naval vessels for weeks at sea. Reading the words of a man unfettered by political correctness is most refreshing. His critics (including those on this site) delight in referring to Mr. Liddy as "convicted felon," as if he had knocked over a convenience store, or bludgeoned an elderly lady for her handbag. Read for yourself why he did hard time, and decide if you would delight in such a description for a man who traded years of his life for the preservation of his personal code of honor. I doubt that his critics have the guts to lay it all on the line for their goofball agendas.
