Summary: Best Album of 1975
Comment: What happens when Carole King gets together with Maurice Sendack? Pure fun and magic! The cartoon is a gem, but the music really brings out the kids of Avenue P. "One Was Johnny" "Chicken Soup" "Screamin & Yellin" are all treats but the real classic here is "Avenue P." Though never originally included in the cartoon (the last half of the album isn't), teh song paints a picture of a little girl's longing and dreams while being trapped in a small town. I also have to give a special shout to "Awful Truth" where Rosie envisions herself married to Dracula and dining on rats and mush made of bats! Makes no sense, nor does ending the song with dogs barking but you gotta love it!

Comment: I first came across the song, "Chicken Soup with Rice" duing a musical theatre class, I HAD to hear more. Carole King doesn't disappoint! Along with Maurice Syndack's (sp?) lyrics, King has put together a charming album that both adults (I'm 21) and children can enjoy together.

Comment: I received a little box set of the "Nutshell Library" when I was a little girl back in the 60s. While out looking for music for my children one day to listen to in the car I spotted this Cd and picked it up immediately. What nestalgia! Carole King really brings the characters to life! Now if I could only find the Really Rosie movie...My kids love the music. It's a favorite of theirs too!!! I highly recommend purchasing this soundtrack.
