Comment: all the travel books to this area cover the hotels and the ruins, but this book gives more than i have read in any of the others with regards to the animals, plant life, fish, make up of the reefs, ecological concerns, more insight into the native Mayans, more useful information. this is one of the three guide books i am taking with me. i believe it has been newly released as Yucatan Peninsula Handbook by Moon Publications, ISBN 1-56691-024-2
