Summary: Nothing Better Than This For Hard-Core Hikers!
Comment: Winkler has done what so many other Adirondack High-Peak enthusiasts want to do - and then some. Not only has he climbed and documented dozens of unmarked highpeaks, but he has supplemented them with gorgeous and uniquely viewed photographs. These give a completely new perspective for any Adirondack hiker and is written with a practical approach.
If you want a 'jump-start' on taking on some of these 'tougher' climbs, read some of Winklers stories and get going. Be one of those few that reach these remote peaks and discover the magical seclusion that Winkler shares. Great reading year round!

Summary: Beautiful Photos of Rare Places
Comment: The author has hiked to some incredibly out-of-the-way places and taken gorgeous photos. The pictures show the incredible variety of scenery in the Adirondacks as the seasons change. They also show the fun that can be had from venturing to some of these places. An example is Gooseberry Mountain, in the middle of the Adirondack High Peaks. By scaling this seldom-visited mountain, the author obtained a great view of nearby Basin Mountain, a popular hiking destination. Moreover, he waited until just the right time to take a perfect picture. This is an exhilerating book - the best nature photography book I have ever seen, and the author didn't even have to leave New York State!
