Summary: A Great Place to Start
Comment: I feel like this book gave me more professional training than a lot of the other books that I have read (This book has been used in a lot of cosmetology schools) I had already watched the video about 4 times before I bought the book. I don't know if the book would be confusing if you hadn't watched the video beforehand. I feel that between the book and the video this was a great place for me to start learning haircutting! The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is that I feel it could have given us a lot more information on each page - the book didn't have to be that basic!

Summary: Haircutting Basics:An Easy Step-By-Step Guide
Comment: Well, I supposed it to be professional. But except bob, other styles shown are just out of date. Huge print (why?), ridiculous illustrations (must be made by a child). The basics would take just about one fifth of this book. Disappointing! I learned more by observing my hair stylist.

Rating: 4
Summary: Great book for a beginner
Comment: This book was very easy to read and understand. Shortly after reading the book, I knew all I needed to start cutting my family and friends' hair. The only drawback was that the book didn't include how to cut hair that is "folically challenged" (i.e., not much on top)which I could have used a few pointers on for a family member. Regardless, I was able to modify the instructions in the book myself and give him a great haircut.

I would also recommend getting the companion video that shows all of the styles from the book being done by hair professionals.
