Summary: Hackneyed More Than Nostalgic
Comment: This is a catalog produced by a home plan design company, complete with order form. It misrepresents its content, because the designs are not recreations of "time-honored" design, unless you consider the '80s as a historic period. Homes like these are readily viewed in any new development. Granted, in most cases they have moved the garage doors away from the entrance and put them on a side of the home, but we still have the front cluttered with three or four gables, and in some cases it's hard to find the front door among all the visual clutter. The plans favor a connection from the kitchen to the dining room through the laundry. Sometimes the distance appears to be almost twenty feet! Maybe the "nostalgia" refers to colonial days, when kitchens were a separate building.
