Summary: This is one of those life altering books
Comment: Kevin L. Smith does an execellent job of getting his point across and being very thorough. During the course of this book you will be taken back in time to the early years of this country's business infrastructure development(pre-imancipation America). He does that to give a historical bases for his ideas on the slave mentality that black business persons must overcomed if their going to be successful in their entrepreneual activities. He then discusses the roles of the Family, the church, and the community in shaping how young black kids think about business and investing and their chances for success in the business arena.
Although he dedicates a good portion of the book to the above topics, he also concisely covers all of the aspects of starting, operating, and managing a successful business and outlines the pitfalls black enterpreneurs should avoid, mentally, spiritually, and socially.
It is my opinion that this book should be considered as required reading for all junior high and high school students. Although the title states "Financial attitudes and language for African-Americans", I feel everyone, no matter your culture or ethnicity, could benefit from reading this powerful business tool.
