Comment: This is such a helpful book. I like the idea of fables written in easy to read words. They teach lessons and entertain. The stories make us laugh while we understand the mistakes being made in the stories. We can learn to laugh at our mistakes and learn to do better. These three books teach reading and they teach values.

Summary: Great little book
Comment: What a clever idea to use fables. So often, short stories for kids are kind of pointless. They are barely worth reading, but fables have had values which have lasted for centuries! These short stories are well worth reading over and over again.
This is titled "book 2" like for second grade but most teachers teach these words in first grade. I guess they mean that in second grade they should recognize the second grade words and earlier ones instantly, but they should know pre-primer through third grade by the time they finish first grade. That is, if they are going to read well.
Dolch words are words that must be recognized so that kids can become good readers. These words are found in almost every single book but some of them can't be sounded out like "is" sounds like "iz."
"Threw" sounds like "blue." Then you have "on" and "own" and so forth.
This has short delightful stories and fables using the words. It has all of the pre-primer through second grade words without using any words on more complicated levels.
It even has some word searches. The searches only use words which are right side up and they are NOT backward. We don't want kids to read backward so why encourage them to do it in word searches? I'm glad this writer thought of that.
