Rating: 5
Summary: life wise
Comment: I think this might be the only book I've ever read twice. Christ is very... human, and his relationships are very human, and very true, and humbling while also inspiring, because even He is not only in pain, but also does not know. That really struck me. It was really odd finishing the book because even though it's so long, and I took my time reading and rereading passages, at the end it felt so short, and almost too simple... (Which of course all words are.) Or perhaps I just didn't want to put it down because I liked being enwrapped in the truth of it. (Not that I agreed or disagreed with everything, but it was true in a different, deeper kind of way).
The truth of this book is in the questions being asked because they themselves are the closest thing to truth. And the question is never so much "Is there a G-d?" (this is just a convenient label), nor whether Divinity is Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, or any of the other tribes, but "What is the essence of life?"
This book might make you question. If it makes you angry, read it again; if it leaves you content, you have not even read it once.
