Summary: Good Research Information for Students
Comment: If you want to learn to think critically about doing research and evaluating the research of others, this is a very useful book to read. It has many "research articles" (made up by the author) that have errors discussed in the book. Unlike many books that just talk about issues, this actually has extended examples that seem like real life scenarios.

It is probably most useful for students who already have an elementary understanding of research, but it could still be useful for *motivated* students who are new to the field. Overall, it is a very useful resource.

Rating: 4
Summary: Good for advanced college student or beginning grad student
Comment: I reviewed this book hoping to use it for an advanved undergraduate course. Although I like the book, it is a bit too advanced for many undergraduates. The book assumes a basic level of knowledge many college undergraduates may not have (e.g., the meaning of the term "nominal" variable). On the other hand, there is excellent material on scale construction and sampling. The book also has a great section of short studies followed by a critical review of the flaws in each. I plan to use the book to prepare lectures and perhaps as a supplement to the main text in the course. First or second year graduate students will likely find the book to be a very useful addition to their training in research methodology. For example, a brief section on the proper use of change scores in statistical analyses is very helpful and much clearer than either of the sources from which the material is cited as having originated (i.e., Pedhazur, 1982; and Keppel, 1982).

Summary: Critical thinking about research
Comment: I was scared about taking a statistics class. After reading this book, It wasn't scary at all. This book was a good asset for my research project paper.
