Summary: De-mystifying Research
Comment: As a professor of fine arts who is interested in understanding research methods, and also embarking on a research project to complete the Ph.D. requirement for the Institute for the Study of Violence at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, I found this book an interesting enhancement to my study. Researchers present thoughts about their studies in a venue for the common man, which of course includes the student who may be just beginning to understand the discipline of research. The ideas are accessible and enjoyable. It is a book that is valuable as a preface to a course in Ph.D. research, as well as simply an enjoyable read for everyone (be it student, practioner, or simply consumer) who comes in contact with the subject of research. I recommend it to the reader who wonders how the process of research happens, and what the conflicts and dilemmas of the researcher entail.
