Comment: I am a huge fan of John Lennon, so I had to see this movie, and Im glade that I did! It really showed him as he was in private, or in public, altough some things about him were never mentioned thast I thought were essential to understanding this man. It showed his agressive, as well as his gentle side. I did cry at the end, when his blood stained glasses go flying, I just broke down. word of advice, have a box of tissues at the end. The nudity is not all that bad, you never really see anything(just barley) you wouldin't see in a pg-13 film, except for a few brief seconds, and the swearing is minimum.I reccomend this film to all John Lennon fans!

Summary: An Excellent Addition To Your Beatles Collection
Comment: It took me almost four years to find this movie. For a time, I've listened to the soundtrack, and it was so amazing. I just had to find the movie. Finally, I managed to purchase it and I was awestruck. The film depicts a lot from Lennon's private life from his life with Yoko to his untimely death. Although, some live appearances, especially with the Beatles at the 1963 Royal Variety Show, were reworked using some studio recordings. Another thing is the scene when John and Yoko make love is a little irratating. I'd rather skip that scene, for the rest is absolutely brilliant. I can't wait for it to come on DVD. I hope they'll add footage that couldn't make to the final cut, for they have over 200 hours of footage. If you like John Lennon at his best in his own movie narrated by himself, my advice is to get this NOW!!!

Summary: A must-have for Lennon fans
Comment: I've loved John Lennon all my life and this movie is an excellent canvass of his life. Though the film takes you through all 40 years of John's life, the emphasis is on the period 1970-71, where the bulk of the film rests. There is at least thirty minutes of fascinating footage from 1970 and shows John in the studio, recording the album "Imagine" with the gnome-like Phil Spector sitting in the control booth. One of my favorite scenes is John rehearsing and singing the beautiful "Jealous Guy" in front of the microphone. What a time piece!
Another lovely scene takes place at John's Titenhurst mansion in 1970. A homeless hippy has been sleeping in John's garden and the camera shows John and Yoko confronting him. The hippy rhapsodizes about the Beatles song "Carry that Weight," and extols the lyrics. John sardonically says, "Yeah, well that was *Paul* singing that!" Then the Lennon's invite the homeless man in for some breakfast.
There is additional footage from the early 70's of John with George Harrison. The interviews with Elliot Mintz are OK, but I would have preferred more actual footage of Lennon. They show some footage from his 1971 concert and much backstage material and interviews. There is plenty of information and film of the aftermath of his tragic assassination and the rivers of tears that produced. The years of the Beatles are covered, but not in any great depth. Get the Anthology for more in-depth material on the Fab Four. In short, a lovely film about one of the cultural icons of the 20th century. If you love John Lennon, get this film.
