Summary: A colorful story of healing and redemption
Comment: This book has been one of my kids' favorites ever since we received a copy two years ago. The rhythm of the language appeals to them in a musical way, and the illustrations (wild and colorful for John Jeremy; dour and gray and rigid for the villagers) communicate the story's message to even the youngest child. It's also a story of healing and redemption. After John Jeremy rescues his detractor from a terrible fire, the villagers decide to embrace him and his wild ways. I just read this book to a class of 5-year-olds in San Diego, a week after our October fires, and they listened with rapt attention. Thank you, thank you to the author and illustrators for this wonderful book.

Comment: My six year old daughter has enjoyed this book for three years. The rhythmic cadence is contagious, the images dance, the swirling type is fun. This is one of our all-time favorites! If a six year old can read it - with it's changing typefaces and innovative layout - then anyone can! We are going to donate it to our school library.

Summary: This is a Fantastically Different book
Comment: The message is wonderful and important. The style is definitely different and very clever; flowing lines, crazy fonts, great graphics and bright colors. It's not hard to read at all. It's definitely not boring. It even seems like there are pictures hidden on each page, giving you something new to discover each time you read it. Absolutely Wonderful!!
