Summary: Learning Social Studies Through Discrepant Event Inquiry
Comment: See Michael M. Yell's Book Review in SOCIAL EDUCATION, TEACHING WITH TECH, "Inquiry with an Ebook," pp 184-185, The Official Journal of National Council for the Social Studies. Mr. Yell is a 7th grade teacher, Hudson Middle School, Hudson Wisconsin, 1998 National Social Studies Teacher of the Year, and member of the NCSS Board of Directors and, he loved this book. Mr. Yell recommends, in his review, William C. Bruce and Jean K. Bruce's new book, taken from this, their old book: Learning Social Studies Through Discrepant Event Inquiry (out of print). Mindtronics (559 pages) is a first of its kind social studies and science textbook, sold together with Inquiry Alive (112 pages), on one CD-Rom, published by Home Tree Media, 2001. Mindtronics has thousands of active Internet URLs linked to each discrepant event inquiry module. Teachers in Australia love Mindtronics!
