Summary: Uncomfortable to think about, but needs to be talked about
Comment: The subject of physically abusing one's family has been secreted away throughout the history of mankind for many reasons, none the least of which is that men, who are by far most commonly the batterers, also "run the show" in society. Mr. Kivel addresses this dilemma in a straightforward, no-holds-barred (excuse the term) manner, and presents ways for men to unite AND work with women to educate men about what drives them to violence and abuse, and what to do about it. Mr. Kivel's qualifications to speak on the matter are unique, and while "Unlearning Violence" can be dry and a little clinical at times, it is thought-provoking and insightful.
