Summary: A Wonderful Book COVER!!!
Comment: But you never know a book by its cover! I am a book critic for such magazines as INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER, formerly SMALL PRESS MAG., and was given the unfortunate task of reviewing this book right after it was released. The premise is good, however I totally agree with the Children's Book Club review that the book lacks emotion (and suspense) and meaningful dialogue. And its characters are shallow. One huge problem that stands out in my mind after all these years is the relationship Cassie had with her mother. The only real communication those two had was over clothes bought on shopping trips. The remaining time, day and night, the two did not speak unlike the outspoken teenagers of today who speak their minds most of the time accompanied by sighs and the rolling of eyeballs! But Cassie just squealed and admired her mother's new dresses which she bought on several shopping excursions. If the purpose of this book was to teach children about the behavior of dogs and wolves, a nonfiction book would have been more appropriate. I do not recommend this book for anyone. There are many more young adult books I do recommend such as The Diary of a Slave Girl, Ruby Jo, The Journal of Darien Dexter Duff, an Emancipated Slave, and The Journal of Leroy Jeremiah Jones, a Fugitive Slave all by K.J. McWilliams

Summary: JINC's Children's Book Club
Comment: (Only two club members attended May's meeting and each had this to say.) Member 1: This book was boring. When I'm reading a good book, I feel some of the emotions of the character, I get tired, and I finish the book at a slower pace. With this book, though, the main character displayed no strong emotion whatsoever, and I ended up finishing this book within an hour. Very emotional things happened to Cassie: her dad walked out, her friend left her, and her mom had no support, but the author didn't display her emotions about all this. As a result, the story line was very far-fetched and not believable. I guess this is supposed to be realistic fiction, but it was boring because it was far-fetched and didn't express much emotion. Member 2: This book had a horrible story line. Cassie makes the same kind of assumptions over and over again and they turn out wrong. At the beginning, though, I did have some sympathy for her losing everything but her weight. I felt sorry for her when she didn't even have a dog! I didn't like how everything was sad but she cheered up when the dog was around. The book was boring.

Summary: A GREAT READING EXPERIENCE~~~~~
Comment: I really liked this book because it consisted of dogs. It was interesting because it had a lot of action. I liked White Dog because he's a wolf. I especially like when he went into Cassie's mother's house and torn up all of the pillows. I would definately recommmend this book to anyone who likes dogs.
