Summary: A Fellow Captive
Comment: As a survivor of the Bataan Death March, I can vouch for the authenticity of MY HITCH IN HELL. There is not a word of exagerration in this absorbing account of the conditions and events in the Japanese Prison Camps. Too little is known about the slave labor imposed on men who were literally dying of malnutriton and all the accompanying diseases such as beri beri, dysentery, malaria, and scurvy. The toll from accidents in the Japanese coal mines was even greater.

At present the veterans such as myself are in their late seventies or early eighties and now dying off at an alarming rate.

MY HITCH IN HELL at least tells the story of their experience while some of us can have the satisfaction of knowing that our sacrifice will not be forgotten completely.

Summary: The Most Intriguing Book I Ever Read!
Comment: I cannot say enough about this book! It held my attention like no other book did. I finished it in three days and for me that is real fast. The story is amazing, yet brutal, and is narrated such that the author makes you feel like you are right there with him. I was horrified to learn of the horrible treatment by the Japanese of our soldiers. I never knew! I feel ashamed never knowing. Our high schools should make this mandatory reading. Maybe seeing what our soldiers did for us will make our children be happy with what they have today. Coming from a fellow South Side Chicagoan, Lester, I SALUTE YOU and I THANK YOU! You are a true American hero!

Rating: 5
Summary: Every American should read this book!
Comment: There were times that I read through tears, there were times I read in horror, and there were times when my heart leapt for joy for the author. Every American should buy this book, read it, and then thank our soldiers.
