Summary: Enjoyable Fun Story!
Comment: The Man With The Dancing Eyes by Sophie Dahl was a fun story that I enjoyed a lot! The Illustrations were great too.
Rating: 1
Summary: The nut falls far, far from the tree
Comment: The one star is for the illustrations; they're pleasant enough, maybe just this side of average.
Unfortunately, they accompany a story that could only have been published pulling the strings of one's famous grandfather. The tone verges on babytalk, and the story talks of immature love as well - boy meets girl, boy cheats on girl, girl takes boy back because . . . because?
One reviewer gushes over the novelty of a lead figures named "Pierre". I require a leetle more from my reading than quaintly-named characters. And as to the one-star rating belying my empty, pathetic, romanceless state - I promise to go over to Laurie Colwin's books and grant them all the 4- and 5-stars they deserve.
Finally, for whimsical prose accompanied by clever line drawings that succeed together to create a romantic whole, see Brian Andreas' "Mostly True" or any of his other books.

Summary: A Charming Modern Fairy Tale
Comment: After reading about this book in an article in Vogue, I was curious to check out what kind of non-biographical book a supermodel was capable of...actually, i'm joking. I expected something creative from the grand daughter of the incredible Roald Dahl...author of some of the best children's books ever written. I wasn't disappointed, despite the opinions of so many others on Amazon, i thoroughly enjoyed the whimsical illustrations and the sheer curiousness of a female lead character named Pierre. everything about the story is charming, especially its faith in love. True, the story has been told before, in fact it's one of those too often told Bridget Jones knock offs, but still...it's abbreviated, set with charming language, and topped off with lovely paintings. The book is magical. A storybook for adults, and i personally feel that sometimes everyone needs a backtrack to where they began.
