Summary: Good idea gone bad
Comment: There is only one useful point in anything Doman has to say and I will save you the money by telling you here: You can teach your child anything you want them to know. Don't ever look down on your child because they are very little, assuming they cannot learn something useful or important.

However, there are about 1,000 better ways to teach your child anything - reading, math, music, whatever - than by using the Doman method. The Doman program is boring, expensive, time-consuming and not as effective or as efficient as lots of fun ways you can make up yourself. I taught my children phonics when they were babies and toddlers using cards stationed at their changing table, refrigerator magnet letters, puzzles and bath foamy letters that stick on the wall. My daughter learned to read at 3.5 years old and my son started reading just before age 4. They are also very bright overall and good at math and other things that interest them. Don't waste time and money on Doman. Doman himself says learning is to be "joyous", but the majority of people I've "known" on-line using this program constantly complain that their kids won't look at the flashcards. Make it joyous by giving your child unstintingly the gift of knowledge, without ever demanding a certain achievment level of them.

Summary: AWESOME PROGRAM!!!!!!
Comment: I highly reccomend this program! I started it when my son was ten months old and within just a couple weeks I found he could read the words he had learned and understand them! My son also gets super excited when we erad books that have the words he has already learned in them! He loves the program and we have a great time doing it together...Glenn Doman's programs are one of the most looked forward to things we do in our day together. Of course it is not necessary to do exactly as the book says but rather just understand and apply the general idea to your particular child. My son is 11 months old now and we also read about 20 or so books per day, do the lovely math program, the physical program, foreign language, and soon the encyclopedic knowledge program and swimming. I have found that he has more interested in learning than with playing with toys or doing many other things. Just let your baby be the guide and love him no matter what!!! I also reccomend How to teach your baby to swim by Claire Timmermans!!

Summary: !!!!AWESOME PROGRAM!!!!
Comment: When our daughters were born, we began using the Doman programs within days of bringing them home from the hospital. It has paid off immensely. Not only did we use, teach to read, we used all of the programs. Yes it can be costly, but is your child's future not worth it? Both of our daughters have been home schooled since kindergarten, our 13 year old tests at the level of a fourth year college student and our 11 year old daughter tests at high school grad levels in all subjects except math. She is studying calculus this year and she is in 6th grade! Both girls will begin taking some college courses this summer and a credit this fall. I am sure that a large part of their intelligence is due to Doman's programs.

I have talked with some of the people that do nothing but put down Doman's programs, all I can say after talking to them is that if their children are twice as intelligent as they are then maybe if they marry well, they might do better than that 3 room trailer down yonder next to that ther creek, Redneck City, USA. Of course, if you are a chain smoking, white trash, grade school graduate idiot with a IQ lower than your shoe size, how could we even expect you to make it through the first book, and lets forget about you trying to teach your children anything except how to open a beer with your cigarette lighter. You will only get out of the programs what you put in them. If your child would "rather stare at the wall then learn how to read" well you better save your money, you will need it for bail and cigarettes at the commissary when junior joins the ranks of the rest of your relations. But if you want the best for your children, then buy all the programs and put them to use!!
