Summary: Batten down the hatches! Heavy Waves Ahead!
Comment: Are we heading into the biggest depression of all time? Is it preventable? Who will be affected the most?GUESS! Mr. Arnold addresses these and many more questions in this book. His analysis is so simple enough that anyone can understand why there is cause for concern. With the amount of debt being financed by the US and taken on by other countries, we are definitely waiting for the great vacuum to suck in every investor. From Social Security deficit to the GOld Standard, Arnold hands out reason enough for every American to reconsider their investment strategy and think long term, very long term!
This is required reading for every American.

Summary: Definitely worth reading
Comment: This book is highly recommended. It used a similar approach (of demographic data) as in "The Great Boom Ahead." There is some attempt to correlate the two data, i.e. demography and the stock market, but the major point is still they tracked each other in the past.
It is interesting to read this book, "The Great Boom Ahead" and "Prophecy", especially the two newer ones. Both this book and Prophecy claim there will be a major corrections within 10 to 20 years from now, though from different reasons. I guess the baby boomer are really concerned that their good days may be near the end.
As a member in the baby boomer generation, I would certainly take notes of what they said and get prepared before the sky falls. Even if the sky stays up there, avoiding the potential risk is also worth the efforts.

Summary: A fascinating and scary glimpse of the next few decades
Comment: Arnold gives a fascinating portrait of the coming decades, and the next great depression. I found his arguments incredibly persuasive and convincing. I am very familiar with Dent's work, and find it to be interesting but a little overdone. Dent focuses alot of effort on effective marketing of his information. Arnold is the opposite - he simply states his data and conclusions, and then offers some very limited advice as to how to avoid catastrophe in the crash. He does not appear to have a desire to "cash-in" in the frenzy the book could create.
My only criticism is that it does not address the NASDAQ at all, and merely points to estimates regarding unemployment, interest rates, and the impact of the next generation (10-19 year olds). To me, those issues should have been more adequately researched and addressed. However, I do not think the omissions materially detract from the overall message.
Overall, I think this is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT piece of work, worthy of sharing with others immediately. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who will listen.
Good luck to all-
