Summary: Watch out for errors
Comment: While the book gives a good idea of what the Catholic faith is, I noted after buying the book that it has some grave errors in its interpretation of Vatican II council documents. It tends to water-down the faith, which does not make the faith more attractive to non-believers--just more vague.
As a Catholic, I was disappointed at the authors' explanation of the sacraments and other beliefs..sometimes, they label as "mythology" what is in reality a "mystery." They also do not expound clearly on the mysteries of the Incarnation (i.e. When the 2nd person of the Trinity becomes true Man) and other dogmas of the faith.
I would not recommend this book to fellow Catholics, who are trying to understand their faith better.

Summary: Lighten Up
Comment: I was reluctant to read this book at first, because my view of Catholicism is that it is a depressing, rule-generated religion that has nothing to do with Jesus and Jesus' teaching, and everything to do with heirarchy and SIN. I found this book refreshing, allowing me to be amused, giving me hope that Catholicism isn't all doom and gloom. It is a great book to start with. Easy to read, not scary, no sense of going to hell at least immediately. It would be nice for the world, and for us Protestants to think that the Catholic Church were heading in the direction that this book advocates and that maybe the church is trying at least in some parts of the world to be inclusive of all of God's children regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, class, or religious affiliation.

Summary: Great for RCIA
Comment: As RCIA director for my parish, I have found this book quite useful and enjoyable for our inquirers and candidates. I highly recommend it.
